Management Leadership for Tomorrow Receives Black Community Commitment Grant from Jordan Brand

Washington, D.C. (July 1, 2024)Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) is proud to announce that it has been selected as one of 37 organizations to receive a Black Community Commitment (BCC) grant from Jordan Brand, a division of Nike, Inc. The Jordan Black Community Commitment is a $100 million, 10-year shared investment begun in 2020 aimed at creating more equitable futures for Black Americans.

In response to this generosity, Cristal Baron, MLT’s Head of Advancement, shared, “On behalf of MLT, I would like to express our deepest gratitude to Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand for their 2024 grant in support of our work to close racial wealth gaps. Through our partnership, we are empowering the next generation of leaders and creating a more inclusive and equitable future. We look forward to the impact we will achieve together.”

MLT, along with the other selected organizations, aligns with the four key focus areas of the Jordan Black Community Commitment. These include: economic justice, education, narrative change, and social justice. Through institutional grants, community grants, and family grants, the BCC aims to positively impact and evolve systems, empower communities, and build generational wealth in Black communities.

“The Jordan Brand has a unique and distinct role to play in continuing to elevate Black culture and Black communities,” said Sarah Mensah, President at the Jordan Brand. “It’s why we are so committed to partnering closely with organizations who are boldly and intentionally leading the change to create a more equitable future for Black Americans. We are privileged to support these organizations in their inspiring work.”

To qualify for a one-year grant from the Community Grants Program, grassroots 501(c)(3) organizations must have an operating budget of under $3 million and demonstrate a connection to one of the BCC’s four key pillars. The Jordan Community Grants were initially distributed in 2021, and the most recent recipients form the program’s fourth cohort. The grant awarded to MLT is a one-time investment made in 2024 through a joint and equal commitment from Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand.
