As a college student, the path to figuring out your passion and graduating with a job offer can feel overwhelming. MLT’s Career Prep (CP) program provides Fellows with a winning professional playbook, 20 months of programming, which includes personalized coaching, and an accelerating network of 10,000 MLT Rising Leaders.

We will help you gain career-accelerating skills not taught in classrooms, cultivate personal clarity, and connect with top employers for potential internships and full-time roles.

The MLT Career Prep Program Experience
Your MLT Career Prep experience starts the summer before your junior year of college and continues through the beginning of your senior year. Here’s how MLT will help you achieve your goals:

 

  1. Personalized coaching: Our expert MLT Coaches will guide you through the program and help you create a personalized career roadmap that ties your long-term career aspirations to near-term goals and development objectives.
  2. Personal clarity: You will gain insight into your strengths, passions, and development areas. You will define how these personal elements align with your ultimate career goals, allowing you to better tell your story in job interviews.
  3. Job search guidance: Fellows develop the skills and relationships needed for their target career and become better prepared for the recruiting process. MLT coaches provide resume and cover letter support, as well as critical insights on networking, interviewing, and relationship management.
  4. A powerful professional network: You will connect with a community of peers, who have similar interests and career aspirations, and join a network of more than 10,000 MLT Alumni, corporate partners, and other business leaders.
  5. Exposure and access to top employers: Career Prep Fellows receive access to the leading hiring organizations in consulting, technology, financial services, consumer goods, retail, and more — all seeking to recruit MLT talent for internships and full-time jobs.
  6. In-person and virtual seminars: Fellows attend mandatory weekend seminars. Each event is designed to provide participants with the insights and skills needed to secure high-trajectory internships and jobs. Seminars include skill-building workshops, case studies, industry panels, and networking sessions. Content is delivered by our corporate partners, MLT coaches, and additional subject matter experts. Seminars are generally hosted on the campuses of MLT’s corporate partners. The typical seasons for these seminars are:

  • Interview Super Day(s): Fall

  • Closing Seminar: Fall/Winter

Joycelyn Morris Ph.D, Managing Director, College Programs

Education: B.S. and MBA from Florida A&M University; and a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction from Florida International University

Experience: With over 14 years of professional experience, Joycelyn began her career on Wall Street working in wealth management at Deutsche Bank. With several years of wealth management experience behind her, she eventually left the financial services industry and New York to relocate back to South Florida and pursue a career in the nonprofit sector. She is committed to helping others and specifically individuals of color see their full potential and this is evidenced in her professional endeavors. Currently, she also serves as the Director of MBA Professional Development at Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT). This program prepares high-achieving, MBA students of color to become senior leaders in business and social sector organizations.  

In addition to her professional endeavors, Joycelyn is committed to her community and her passion to help others led her to volunteer in various capacities for organizations such as Path to College, Girls II Women, Palm Beach SCORE, to name a few. Joycelyn also loves music, reading and is a travel enthusiast. 

Joycelyn was selected to participate in Leadership Florida’s Connect 11 Class, which is the state’s highly sought-after and only leadership program that spans industries and focuses on developing existing and emerging leaders aged 25 – 39. 

 

Michelle Lilley, Director, Software Engineering/Technology sector  

Education: B.S. in Computer Engineering from Howard University (Cum Laude)

Experience: Michelle was a Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drum Major Award Recipient, selected as a Women We Admire Awardee for the 2022 Top 50 Women Leaders of Maryland, and loves spending time with her family (specifically her two little ones).

 

Atilah Claiborne, Director, Consulting sector

Education: Atilah joined MLT in April 2022. She is a dynamic communications leader with a prolific 10-year career in advisory consulting. She graduated from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and Mass Communication. She earned her MBA from Webster University in 2015. Armed with a focus on process improvement, Atilah has worked for EY, PwC, and other FinTech, management consulting, and Financial Services firms. Atilah is a seasoned professional in supporting business transformation initiatives, leading project management efforts, developing associate readiness plans, standardizing procedures, and implementing strategic communication roadmaps for financial services and banking clients. She is passionate about promoting firm’s vow for diversity and inclusion through the leadership of events gathering minority executives to discuss diversification and mobility.

 

Jordan Kramer, Director, Financial Services sector

Education: MBA (with Honors) from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, BA (with Distinction in All Subjects) from Cornell University

Experience: For five years Jordan ran his own healthcare strategy and finance consulting business, with a focus on helping CEOs tell stories that resonate with investors.  For over ten years, he was a venture capital investor for Kaiser Permanente Ventures focused on investments in healthcare information technology, healthcare services, as well as diagnostics, ophthalmology, and drug-delivery devices.   

Prior to Kaiser Permanente Ventures, Jordan spent three years as the Director of Finance and Development for BUILD, an educational non-profit using entrepreneurship to inspire under-resourced high-school students to go to college.  Prior to BUILD, Jordan was a strategy consultant at Bain & Company and Cambridge Strategic Management Group. 

 

April L. Smith, Director, Corporate Management sector

Education: Master of Religious Studies, M.B.A. (Marketing)

Experience: April has a lifelong love of all things that motivate people to live well. She enjoys matching people to their passion and purpose.
