MLT’s MBA Professional Development (PD) program prepares high-achieving individuals who have experienced inequitable access to career-accelerating resources, including Black, Latine, Native American, and other individuals, to become senior leaders in business and social sector organizations.

Fellows identify and pursue summer opportunities and full-time roles that match their skills and aspirations. You will have the opportunity to interview for internships three months before business school, potentially starting your MBA program with an internship offer.

The MLT MBA PD Program Experience

The MBA Professional Development Program kicks off in the Spring. The formal curriculum includes self-study exercises and two intensive skill-building seminars in late April and late May/early June. The seminars are hosted by MLT’s corporate partners and feature in-depth case studies and analytical workshops designed to provide you with better insight into post-MBA careers and prepare you for the MBA recruiting process. In addition to the intensive seminars, you will:

  • Get one-on-one career coaching: Partner with an experienced MLT Professional Development Coach who has excelled in your industry of choice. Your coach will provide individualized interview preparation, career guidance, and feedback in monthly coach calls beginning in February and continuing through your internship and full-time job search during business school.
  • Gain personal clarity: Learn to best tell your story in interviews by aligning your passions and strengths with your ultimate career goals. You’ll work with your coach to define a personalized roadmap that connects your long-term career goals to a near-term action plan.
  • Get early access to top employers: Receive unique and early access to top employers seeking to recruit MLT Rising Leaders for internships and full-time jobs.
  • Cultivate a powerful network: Connect with a high-leverage network of peers, colleagues, mentors, and supporters and be a part of MLT’s network of champions, with 7,000 peers and senior leaders – and growing!
  • Interview before getting on campus: Pursue a summer internship at the organization(s) of your choice with the support of MLT MBA PD.

Dawn Christian, Senior Director

Dawn Christian is a leadership and belonging expert with over 25 years of leadership development experience creating organizational culture strategies and leadership best practices across global organizations and government agencies. She has been a featured speaker on global platforms, including The Forum on Workplace Inclusions- Diversity Executive Forum and the Black Mental Health Conference. Dawn, a thought leader on belonging and mental wellness in the workplace, has been cited in the Wall Street Journal and the Bowman Foundation for Workplace Equity and Mental Wellness’ 2023 Defining the Problem and Finding the Solution to the Mental Health in the Workplace Crisis white paper, among others. Dawn is the immediate past president of the Public Relations Student Association (PRSA) Foundation Board of Trustees. She is a 2021 National Diversity Council Leadership Excellence Awardee.

A trusted advisor and coach, she advises leaders at all levels. She is a fellow at the Institute of Coaching at McLean Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School.

Dawn is the founder Belong by Dawn Christian®️ and has previously led global commercialization initiatives at Amgen, Astellas, and Astra-Zeneca, where she launched four blockbuster products and championed several DEI and leadership development initiatives. She was the inaugural Head of DEI and Multicultural Marketing at GCI Health.

Education & Certifications: Dawn holds an MBA from the Johnson Graduate School of Management, where she was a Park Leadership Fellow, and a BA in Sociology from The University of California at Berkeley. She has a Leadership certificate from the International Labor Relations School at Cornell University focusing on Diversity and inclusion and a Crafting the Next Chapter executive education certificate from the Graham School at the University of Chicago. Dawn is a Bowman Foundation in Workplace Equity and Mental Wellness certified practitioner. She is a MLT MBA Prep 2006 alumus.

 
 
MLT Tiel ReardonTiel Reardon, Associate Director

Education: Tiel graduated with honors from Hofstra University in 2010. While studying at Hofstra, Tiel pursued a dual degree in Anthropology and Sociology while minoring in Music. She also completed a thesis in Anthropology about gentrification in the neighborhood of Bushwick, Brooklyn.

Experience: Tiel joined MLT as an Associate for MBA Programs in January 2012. She began her post-collegiate career as a member of NYC Civic Corps Fellow working at New York Cares. She enjoyed planning many types of volunteer projects at public schools, senior homes, local non-profits, and community gardens. Tiel recruited and trained over 430 volunteer SAT Tutors in the Fall of 2011 in support of the SAT Prep Program. Continuing to pursue her interest in working in the non-profit realm, Tiel was thrilled to join MLT in January 2012.


 

MBA Professional Development Coaches

Francine Chew, Senior Coach

Education: Francine graduated with a BA in Economics from Yale University, where she was a 4-year varsity rower. She earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and was a Fulbright Scholar in Ecuador.

Experience: Francine Chew is VP and Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at The Guardian Life Insurance Company (Guardian), where she is responsible for leading and evolving the philanthropic strategy for the company to effectively engage its colleagues, community, and consumers.

Previous roles include VP, Head of Investment Policy & Content, Impact & Responsible Investing, and VP, Strategic Business Engagement, both in the Inclusive Solutions organization at Prudential Financial. Francine was also the founding Program Officer of the 10,000 Small Businesses initiative at Goldman Sachs, an Associate in the Equity Capital Markets group at Merrill Lynch, and an Analyst in the Investment Banking Division at Morgan Stanley.

Francine has twin sons, and is the Board Chair of Row New York, a sports-based youth development organization dedicated to diversifying the sport of rowing.

Beena Kavalam, Senior Coach

Education: Beena completed her MBA in Marketing and Management from NYU Stern School of Business and her BA in Biology from Rutgers University.  She is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coaching Federation and holds the CPCC designation from Coaches Training Institute.

Experience: Beena started her career as a management consultant for Accenture and later worked for a boutique consultancy focused on the pharmaceutical industry, Pacesetter Management Consulting.  After completing her MBA, Beena switched careers into brand management and worked for Bayer ConsumerCare on the Bayer Aspirin®and Flintstones Vitamins brands and for WhiteWave Foods on the International Delight Iced Coffee business. Beena joined MLT in January of 2013. As a Senior Coach, Beena draws on her real-world brand management experience and her consulting background to prepare her fellows for roles in Product Management and Brand Management or are interested more broadly in the Tech and CPG industries.  Currently, she is also CEO of Personal Revolution, a consulting, coaching, speaking, and training company based in New Jersey.

Deborah Chatman, Senior Coach

Education: Deborah received her M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Chicago Booth Business School and her B.S. in Accounting/Marketing from the University of California, Haas School of Business in Berkeley. She holds a Fashion Design degree from the Parsons School of Design.

Experience: Deborah has built a highly successful career in the financial services sector, holding leadership positions in finance, business development, and marketing across the areas of asset management, institutional securities, and investment banking. She has served at UBS, as a Director, Global Product Specialist in Alternative and Quantitative Investments for a hedge fund of funds. In addition, Deborah had a robust 20-year tenure at JPMorgan Chase & Co. in various positions including the Private Bank’s Endowments & Foundations Group. 

Deborah was selected for the Directors Academy 2021-2022 NextGen Directors program for developing corporate board members. Throughout her career, Deborah has affiliated with the New York Alternative Investments Roundtable, 100 Women in Finance, the Financial Women’s Association, and non-profits including the Tiger Woods Foundation, the FIT Couture Council, the National Arts Club, and as a former board member with Associated Black Charities, NYC.

Education: Senyo earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and government from Georgetown University. In 2019, Senyo earned an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Experience: Senyo began his career as an analyst with Deloitte Consulting LLP, based in Washington, DC. After becoming a senior consultant (post-MBA role), Senyo left the firm to pursue an MBA. After business school, Senyo joined Google as a Product Specialist for the Google My Business product. In that role, Senyo drives monetization, partnerships, policy, and transactions for merchants globally. Senyo is intensely committed to personal and professional growth. He lives out this passion by supporting others in their development journey. For leisure, Senyo enjoys cycling on his road bike, watching Arsenal matches and Formula 1 Grands Prix, and adding to his travel list of seven continents and 50+ countries.

 

Jeremy Hemsworth, Coach

Education: Jeremy holds an MBA and BA degree from the University of Minnesota and currently resides in the Nashville metropolitan area with his wife and two children.

Experience: Jeremy joins MLT as a part-time coach on the MBA PD team. Jeremy currently works at Salesforce as a Senior Manager of Solutions Marketing on the Slack product. Before Salesforce, Jeremy spent several years at Microsoft in various marketing roles. He is an MLT MBA PD alum and has served as an Ascend Coach and MLT Seattle Alumni Chapter lead.

 

Antoine Farris, Coach

Antoine Farris is a Managing Director at Golden Vision Capital, a global single family office where he focuses on venture stage and growth equity investments in healthcare, consumer and technology. He is a seasoned professional with over 15 years’ experience in mergers and acquisitions, divestitures and recapitalization transactions.

Previously, Mr. Farris held senior investment banking roles at Lazard and Rothschild, specializing in strategic advisory (M&A) in the Healthcare and Consumer & Retail sectors. He began his Wall Street career in the Technology, Media and Telecom Group at Bear, Stearns & Co., and over the course of his career has been involved in the execution of over $20 billion in transactions across different industries. Prior to business school, Mr. Farris was an entrepreneur and founded a retail endeavor that he developed and sold to a regional chain, which is now owned by Snipes USA.

Mr. Farris holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago, and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan. He is based in New York City and lives in Brooklyn with his family.

 

Evelyn Maultsby-Bynum, Coach

Education: Evelyn holds a MS in Human Resources Management from Loyola University and a BA in Communications from Howard University.

Experience: With over 20+ years’ experience in corporate America, Evelyn Maultsby-Bynum’s professional career has spanned working inside numerous Fortune 500 companies, two top-15 MBA programs, the government sector and not-for-profit organizations. She has a strong background in general human resources management focused primarily on talent/career management, leadership and organizational development, performance management and program management. In 2010 her passion for career coaching led her to launch a private career coaching firm, The Maultsby Way, LLC, where she has been able to bring her experience across multiple industries to bear in helping others determine, prepare for and land into roles that propel their careers forward. She resides in the Washington, DC area with her husband, Richard and two children.

Maura Clark, Director, MBA Recruitment and Admissions

Education: B.A., English Literature, University of Pittsburgh M.A., Higher Education Administration, The George Washington University.

Experience: Maura joined MLT in 2021. She previously served as the Director of Admissions at Vanderbilt University’s Master of Science in Finance program. She spent over a decade recruiting Vanderbilt MBA and MS students. Prior to Vanderbilt, she served as an undergraduate career coach at the Kogod School of Business at American University.

Sarah McCall, Senior Associate, MBA Recruitment and Admissions

Education: B.A. English, North Carolina State University. M. Ed. Higher Education Administration, University of Virginia

Experience: Sarah joined MLT in 2022. Prior to joining MLT, she managed member recruitment at a non-profit professional association. Sarah’s background is in higher education and she has previous experience as a Community Director at Georgetown University and in admissions at the University of Virginia School of Education and Human Development.
