MLT’s long-standing supporter, Deloitte, offers an MLT fellowship for underrepresented minority Accounting majors. This program is an opportunity to participate in a valuable career and leadership development experience within Deloitte’s Audit & Assurance, Risk and Financial Advisory, and Tax businesses. The fellowship provides intensive coaching, the opportunity for two immersive summer internships at Deloitte, and the possibility of a full-time offer from Deloitte upon graduation.
Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor of Science/Business Administration with a major or double-major in Accounting and have definitive plans for meeting the minimum requirements for CPA eligibility by December 2021 or Spring/Summer 2022. Students are required to have a strong academic track record and demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Candidates must also be adaptable, demonstrate confidence, and possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
The Deloitte Accounting Fellowship provides an opportunity for Fellows to gain experience with Deloitte, one of the largest professional services organizations in the world. Each Deloitte Accounting Fellow is assigned a Deloitte coach, who will provide support and direction throughout the experience. The coach will collaborate with MLT Career Prep coaches to guide Fellows through the Career Prep curriculum, with a specific Deloitte Accounting Fellowship focus.
The Deloitte Accounting Fellowship also includes a formal goal-setting and evaluation process. Additional mentor-mentee relationships, both formal and informal, are often formed during an internship. These relationships can extend beyond the summer and offer a great way to stay connected to Deloitte while back on campus.
Deloitte’s Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
Deloitte shares MLT’s commitment to helping students enhance their college and internship experiences, conquer the job search process, and catalyze their post-undergraduate careers. Through MLT’s Career Prep program, 98% of MLT’s Fellows who complete the program secure full-time job offers before graduation.
The Deloitte Accounting Fellowship builds upon and supplements the traditional Career Prep experience with Deloitte-specific coaching and exposure opportunities that can help propel Deloitte Accounting Fellows into meaningful employment with Deloitte, an industry-leading provider of Accounting, Consulting, Tax, and Risk and Financial Advisory services.

What will I be doing?
You will be studying the same curriculum, completing the same activities, and attending the same events as the broader MLT Career Prep cohort, while also engaging in Deloitte’s Accounting Fellowship activities.
What is the commitment?
You will be invited to an all-expenses-paid program, the Audit Luminary Symposium next semester at Deloitte University in Westlake, TX., or the Day with Deloitte Tax event at Deloitte University.
You will complete an eight-week paid internship in the summer of 2020 and, contingent upon satisfactory performance as defined by Deloitte, receive an offer for an additional summer internship in 2021. Participation in the fellowship is an opportunity for both internships, provided Deloitte extends a return offer.
Each eight-week internship will consist of two rotations within one of the three participating businesses: Audit & Assurance, Risk and Financial Advisory, and Tax. Prospective candidates are encouraged to leverage Deloitte’s Explore Your Fit Tool to determine which businesses are of greatest interest to them. Candidates must rank business preference during the interview process. An effort will be made to secure a rotation in the business that is of primary preference for Fellows admitted to the program.
How and what will I learn in this program?
The Deloitte Accounting Fellowship provides specialized programming within the Career Prep (CP) program. It delivers a customized training opportunity designed to broaden the talent pool of Deloitte Accounting professionals. This specialized CP track will follow the traditional CP curriculum and intends to provide additional coaching and hands-on experience for Deloitte Accounting Fellows from Deloitte to help prepare them for success in the Audit & Assurance, Risk and Financial Advisory, and Tax fields.
What other benefits are associated with this program?
If you secure full-time employment with Deloitte upon completion of the Deloitte Accounting Fellowship, all fees related to Becker enrollment and the CPA License required by Deloitte are reimbursable. Any licensing fees or penalties due to a late filing or CPE deficiency, or additional voluntary AICPA related contributions, are not reimbursable. Furthermore, as a Deloitte Accounting Fellow, you will also have the opportunity to be part of the NextGen Leaders Program. Program participants are eligible for a scholarship ranging from $2,500 to $5,000 paid at the start of the internship. Should you join Deloitte full-time, after your internship, you will have the opportunity to participate in three years of targeted learning and development training. Financial assistance combined with experiences are avenues that can help you unleash your true potential.
What career opportunities are available to me upon completion?
During the internship program, you’ll meet and work side by side with many talented Deloitte professionals from Audit & Assurance, Risk and Financial Advisory, and Tax. Upon completion of the Deloitte Accounting Fellowship, participants will continue to benefit from MLT-provided specialized training, networking opportunities, and be positioned to launch their careers.
How does the Deloitte Accounting Fellowship relate to MLT’s Career Prep Program?
The Deloitte Accounting Fellowship runs parallel to Career Prep. However, MLT Deloitte Accounting Fellowship coaching will begin earlier than CP coaching, as Deloitte Accounting Fellows will prepare for a Deloitte internship in the summer upon following admission to the program.
What if I’m accepted into Career Prep, but not accepted into the Deloitte Accounting Fellowship?
If you are accepted into CP but not into the Deloitte Accounting Fellowship, you will still be part of MLT’s leading CP community and participate in all CP program offerings.
